Ashley Dudarenok , China marketing expert, was interviewed by BBC World News on how China becomes the world’s largest market for live streaming sales.
In 2019, livestreaming sales in China reached an US$ 61 billion, according to iiMedia. A number now expected to more than double to $129 billion in 2020.
Once concentrated mainly on Taobao Live and livestreaming-specific platforms like Yizhibo, livestreaming is promoted by other top tech platforms like Pinduoduo, JD.com, WeChat, Douyin, RED and Bilibili.
Alibaba’s Taobao Live is still the undisputed leader of ecommerce livestreams. In February 2020, the number of merchants on the Taobao livestreaming increased by 719%.
