Chris Chan 陳維康

Professor Chris WH Chan 陳維康 is an experienced leader with advanced and extensive track record in graduate business education, MBA and Master’s program development and leadership, and corporate executive education.   Stationed in Hong Kong, Professor Chan is Professor In Residence of Richard Ivey School of Business and Ivey Asia, and Adjunct Professor of Accounting at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.  He is also an active educator for Duke Corporate Education, which specializes in delivering customized executive programs for global companies.  Professor Chan was previously Professor of Accounting at Cornell University’s School of Hotel Administration, and Dean of the Cornell-Nanyang Institute (CNI) in Singapore.  At Cornell, Professor Chan was responsible for the brand elevation of Cornell University’s Master of Management program, as well as represented Cornell in managing CNI and developed alumni and corporate relations in Asia.

Before joining Cornell, Professor Chan was Associate Professor of Accounting, Assistant Dean, and Director of MBA programs at the University of Hong Kong (HKU), where he wasresponsible for MBA brand development, marketing and admissions, financial and program management, academic and student affairs, and corporate and media relations. Under his leadership, the HKU MBA was ranked by The Economist Global MBA Ranking as No. 1 in Asia in 2010 and 2011. In 2009, Professor Chan was one of five professors awarded the prestigious university-wide Outstanding Teaching Award by the University of Hong Kong.

As an innovative and award-winning faculty with apposite executive education experience and business connections, Professor Chan has developed a strong focus on business education in greater China as well as Singapore and Australia.  In addition to teaching MBA and EMBA programs, he has a diverse consulting and executive education portfolio on subjects such as finance for non-finance executives, consultative sales, strategic marketing, financial performance metrics, negotiation, corporate governance and social responsibility, and sustainability.  Professor Chan has also written business cases and/or taught executive education courses for numerous clients including LVMH, Agricultural Bank of China, ABN Amro Bank, China MinSheng Bank, HSBC, Lucent Technologies, Agilent Technologies, General Mills, Hong Kong Government Civil Service Bureau, SGS, TAL, Shangri-la Hotels, New World Mobility, and South China Morning Post.  Professor Chan also speaks at various business conferences and workshops as a keynote or panel speaker oncorporate governance, social responsibility and sustainability, human capital development, hospitality, and luxury industries in Asia.
